The 6 week dog training course consists of private one on one training that is personalized to both yours and your dogs specific needs. The general way it works is we set up a consistent time to meet once a week for an hour to a hour and half each week for a duration of six weeks. DFDI follows a rubric and outline that we've carefully created however certain cases call for a specialized approach. In the less extreme cases we are very well equipped in training the Puppy Obedience LEVEL 1 & 2 , as well as Adult Dog Obedience LEVEL 1 & 2.

On the other end we do also work with rescue dogs and are very familiar with training in Introducing a new dog to a new home. We believe primarily in positive reinforcement and a slow approach for our training style however we also do adjust our approach according to the dogs we are working with. We will NEVER try anything without first talking to the owner in regards to their comfort. In regards to E-COLLAR training, this is usually never recommended by us here at DFDI, although we are trained in how to use these types of tools appropriately in the event an owner is interested in that type of training.

We rescued the shyest 11 mo. Old Border Collie/Aussie mix named Maggie, and had no idea how to help her. I had to literally carry her from room to room because her fear paralyzed her. She was even afraid to eat. When we found DFDI and Alex 6 months ago, all that changed. The minute they met Maggie was “In Love”. She trusted him immediately! She has become a fun loving, playful girl. It was his gentle demeanor and total heartfelt compassion for Maggie that I believe she responded to the most. Her obedience training (which is mostly training us) has just been an added perk. She now goes everywhere with us and is able to be pet by strangers. She’s one happy dog. Thank you Alex and DFDI!
